The traditional Door County Fish Boil here is delicious and very well organized! The view from the front patio is also beautiful though inside is rather loud given the number of guests all eating at the same time. Watching the Fish Boil being prepared and explained was als definitely a highlight of our visit.
Limited parking space. Very informative history and entertaining fish boil.
Best fish boil in Door County! Only one where they debone the whitefish at the table for you. Great service, and a great sunset while we ate outside. 5 out of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed the fish boil we made reservations for! Our dinner time was later in the evening so we were able to watch the sunset over the water. Loved that the experience and patio was dog friendly and our dog laid quietly at our feet the entire time after being so tired from the day. Fish master was excellent at explaining the history of the fish boil, and sitting around a fire with other locals and travelers was such a good time! The food tasted amazing and I liked that they offered a choice of chicken or ribs rather than fish just in case you wanted to participate in the boil but can’t eat or don’t like fish, especially for large families that I noticed chose some of the other options and were still able to then all eat together and do the boil! Fish was definitely amazing though! A must do experience in door county!
Call and make a reservation a day in advance! Dress for a windy porch evening just in case. Perfect romantic spot. Only restaurant that offers to debone your fish, comes with slaw, potatoes, onion, bread and cherry pie! So delicious!
Excellent Door County Fish Boil. Entertaining presentation of cooking process around the steaming, boiling kettle. Delicious whitefish deboned by the waiter at your table. Served with slaw, sweet breads, boiled potatoes and onion. Cherry pie included for dessert ($3 extra for the ice cream on top). Nice outside tables facing Lake Michigan.
We enjoyed the Fish Boil on Friday night, and we had a great time. The boil master was entertaining and we thought the whole experience was educational and a lot of fun! The view of the water from our table was beautiful and we were able to enjoy the sunset while we ate. The service was friendly and very attentive. Overall we had a great time and highly recommend this experience for anyone who wants to enjoy a traditional Scandinavian fish boil. We will definitely be back for brunch next time we are in the area.
We had breakfast one morning, and the fish boil the next evening. Both get five stars. The egg scramble and eggs over medium were as fresh as I can recall eggs ever being. The hash browns were terrific as well, being baked and grated on site. The fish boil was educational and entertaining, and more importantly, delicious. Imagine serving 120 people a hot dinner in about 10 minutes – they have their process down pat. The dinner was more than ample – fish, potatoes, onion, breads, slaw, and cherry pie. Ice cream required a surcharge but is recommended. Very reasonably priced for the quantity and quality. The fish is caught same day or the day prior, so it is fresh. The owner is very sweet and knows how to run a busy restaurant even during these times when every restaurant is short on staff. Call ahead for the fish boil – it books up well in advance.
A nice experience from beginning to end. We enjoyed sitting around the fire, listening to the boil master’s explanation of the process while watching him do it. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the flavor and found it was delicious. The meal was incredibly filling. Finishing with cherry pie was nice. We also enjoyed the bay view from our outdoor table during sunset . I’d go back again.
One of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant! The food was so delicious, the view breathtaking, and the service was perfect. It was also interesting to learn about the fish boil process by experiencing it. This must be the best restaurant for fish boil in Door County!
Had 5pm reservations and showed up at 4:30 as directed. Check-in was easy. Grabbed a seat by by the fire pit to see the show. Great information provided by the boilmaster and enjoyed learning the history of Door County and the fish boil. Sat outside for dinner across the street from the water—perfect view. Thought the food portions were generous with the whitefish pieces (be forewarned: even if you ask to have it de-boned you will still find bones). Tip: pour LOTS of melted butter over the fish! The coleslaw and the breads were excellent—I think I liked that better than the fish. Ending with cherry pie was perfect. A great Door County experience!
Great experience the fish boil was very good. Didn’t look like a lot but it is more than enough for a dinner. Make reservations to get a good seat
